“Dear Devin. I write this letter from Lesvos. Here I do research for a documentary about postcards that travel between Greece and Turkey. I’ll be in Istanbul with you soon. I missed you so much. Giannis.”
In the short creative documentary Souvenirs de... the director Giannis Adrimis shows the audience, via encounters with three collectors from Mytilene and Izmir (Smyrne), that a Postcard is not only a photograph depicting a landscape or an event, but is also a historical and social document conveying many different stories and situations, a means of communication between peoples and cultures. With that in mind, Giannis also uses the Postcard to contact the other side of the Aegean.
Produced in 2012 as a part of the intercultural North Aegean Narratives project facilitated by MODE Istanbul and led by Istanbul Digital Culture and Arts Foundation.
